The central hero of the Hikayat Malem Dagang, the oldest and most celebrated of the Acehnese epic hikayats. A young man of approved courage, rich and influential, he is nominated chief panglima of Sultan Eseukanda Muda’s naval expedition against Si Ujut, negotiating his terms of command through the wise intermediary Ja Pakeh. Throughout the expedition he is the main fighting leader, ultimately capturing Si Ujut alive and, with the Panglima of Pidie, swearing an oath of mutual fidelity before the final battle.
