In May 1903 captured Panglima Polém’s wife, mother and sister - beginning of the end for Polém. Also led colonne Van der Maaten at Tangsé that overran Polém’s mother and other family, leading to Polém’s surrender. Mentioned in 1903 action against Teungkoe di Tjot Plieëng.
Significance
Majoor Van der Maaten appears in Jongejan’s account as one of the figures shaping the history of Aceh during the period covered by the book.
