Kronouer was a Dutch captain of the general staff who commanded the relief column that extricated the patrol of Captain Van Blokland near Anak Baté on 7 March 1896.
P. H. R. Beuming records that shortly after the exchange of bugle signals — the besieged column’s Waar is de Commandant? answered by Hier is de Commandant — kwam de kapitein van den Generalen staf Kronouer, met eenige detachementen uit het naburige Lambarih en Lamsoet, onder medeaanvoering van de luitenants Westendorp en Ketjen, ter assistentie opdagen en tastte den vijand oogenblikkelijk in de flank aan.
The flank attack forced the enemy to change his front and to employ the greater part of his force to cover it, so that the Van Blokland column was left in peace; the wounded were brought quickly to Anak Galoeng while the men still able to fight took the enemy in the rear. De colonne Kronouer bracht den vijand ontzettende verliezen toe, but in it Lieutenant Westendorp was mortally wounded. The numbers of the enemy making further advance impracticable, Kronouer’s column fell back on Anak Galoeng firing, reaching it about two in the afternoon.
