Keudjroeën Oebit was den onvindbaren Keudjroeën Oebit of Tangsé, whom H. J. Schmidt undertook to take within three months and found in February 1909.
In June 1908 Schmidt argued against his transfer from Tangsé to the pacified Padang Tidji on the ground that he was just then on the trail of Keudjroeën Oebit — “and if you transfer me now, you may still have trouble from that band-leader for years to come.” H. N. A. Swart seized the Register van Bendehoofden, found the name and asked “how long do you need to get that man into your hands?” — “Drie maanden, Gouverneur.” — “Agreed, then you may stay for the present where you are.” Schmidt found him in the Tangsé valley in February 1909 and struck him from the register: “the first piece of work which this long-serving collaborator of Swart’s, his “first tracker,” delivered to the new Governor.”
