The simple title Bapa — father — became, in du Croo’s judgement, the highest distinction Swart ever won among all his high and very high decorations: “Bapa Swart was one of those very few.” The biography closes by comparing the Acehnese memory of him with the royal salute Bayete! which the Matabele brought unbidden to Cecil Rhodes in the Matoppo Hills.
