B. B. Lindberg was a Dutch mining engineer who, with Jansen and Wolvekamp, carried out the 1922 mineralogical survey of the Residency of Atjeh whose joint report is the principal printed source for Atjeh gold, iron-ore, copper and lead-zinc occurrences in Van Bemmelen’s *Geology of Indonesia* (1949). The three names are uniformly cited together in the standard form “JANSEN, LINDBERG and WOLVEKAMP, 1922”, which suggests a single field-party operating under the authority of the Netherlands Indies Geological Survey or the Bureau of Mines in Indonesia.
The 1922 Atjeh survey
The contributions recoverable from Van Bemmelen’s citations ascribable to the Jansen–Lindberg–Wolvekamp party cover the principal Atjeh mineral occurrences:
- The primary gold of the S. Assai (11 gr Au/ton) and S. Meranging (10.8 gr Au/ton), the only two assays of 35 samples taken from Atjeh quartz-veins that yielded positive results.
- The iron-ore localities of the Residency of Atjeh: Kr. Geuenteuet (with the 1920 reserve of 2,600,000 tons at 58–64 % Fe, suspended “on account of low market-prices”), Gle Mon Ampeuet, Kr. Ligan (Babah Loh) (700 m of iron ore, pyrite and pyrolusite, thickness 8–17 m), Kr. Rigaih and Alu Talu (scattered ore-fragments at eruptive-rock contacts), Kwala Boe and Tjot Plaj (bog-iron estimates), A. Pentuwa Gade and Kuto Buloh.
- The copper occurrences of Atjeh (Pulu Bras, Gle Broë, Aer Talu, Beutong, Aloe Baru, Aer Si Hajo, Muara Sipongi).
- The lead-zinc assays at Krueng Heureueng (76.1 % Pb, 920.0 gr/t Ag, 2.2 % Zn) and Krueng Isep (65.13 % Pb, 680 gr/t Ag, 8.30 % Zn, 0.5 % Fe, 0.15 % SiO₂).

Significance
Lindberg’s significance for the encyclopedia of Acheh history is co-extensive with that of the Jansen–Lindberg–Wolvekamp report as a whole: he is one of the three Dutch engineers whose 1922 field-work supplied the baseline mineralogical description of Atjeh, and whose name accordingly appears in the source-line of nearly every mineral-locality entry for Atjeh on this wiki. His individual contributions cannot be separated from those of his colleagues on the basis of the printed citations, but the recurrence of his name as co-author of the report is itself the historical fact that matters.
