De Rijzende Zon (“The Rising Sun”) was the bouwmaatschappij (building company) of which the former Maréchaussée officer W. V. Rhemrev was director at the time of the 1930 jubilee of the Korps Maréchaussée.

Rhemrev’s directorship

The jubilee number records: “Thans is de heer Rhemrev Directeur van de bouwmaatschappij De Rijzende Zon, terwijl hij tevens deelneemt aan de exploitatie van de nieuwe rubber-tapmethode, onlangs gedaan door den heer Jules Bosch” — at present Mr. Rhemrev is director of the building company De Rijzende Zon, while he also takes part in the exploitation of the new rubber-tapping method recently devised by Mr. Jules Bosch.

The directorship followed Rhemrev’s placement on the army reserve after his suppression of the communist rising on Sumatra’s Westkust in 1926.
