The Assistent-Resident van de Noordkust was the Netherlands-Indies administrative officer at the head of the afdeeling (district) Noordkust van Atjeh, and one of the two officials whose reports prompted the introduction of verjaring into Atjehnese customary law.
Role in the prescription decree of 1911
The decree of 26 April 1911 No. 2199 recited the missive of the Assistent Resident van de Noordkust of 29 March 1911 No. 606/9, alongside that of the Assistent Resident van Groot-Atjeh of 7 March of the same year No. 593/9.
The afdeeling
The afdeeling Noordkust van Atjeh contained the onderafdeeling (subdivision) Lho’ Seumaweh, within which lay the landschap (territory) Sawang — the district in which the adat moeda fine, the thiplah-tano institution, the 1917 revision of the thirhōm idja reserve and the pepper usages of the Sawangsche toenong were recorded by D. W. N. de Boer.
