Fighting at Lemboe (1873) was a series of engagements near Lemboe during the advance of the Second Dutch Expedition to Aceh in 1873.
Course
The fighting formed part of the contested approach to the Acehnese capital area, alongside siege preparations and failed negotiation. Van Swieten treated the engagements as evidence that operational choices had to be judged in relation to terrain, sickness, supplies, and Acehnese defences rather than in isolation.
Significance
The episode belongs to the continuing Aceh War and the contested consequences of the Capture of the Kraton of Aceh.
