Events

• Dutch marine expulsion of Atjehers from Langkat (1866) — the Dutch naval intervention that ended the Atjehnese exactions in the Langkat territory. The Encyclopaedisch Bureau records: “Tevens werd in het daarop volgend jaar door optreden onzer Marine een einde gemaakt aan de vexaties der Atjehers in het Langkatsche, die daardoor naar hun eigen gebied werden teruggedreven.”
• The formal establishment of Langkat’s rights over Poeloe Kompai (in the Aroebaai) and Tamiang. The Encyclopaedisch Bureau records: “terwijl de rechten bevestigd werden van Langkat op Poeloe Kompai (in de Aroebaal) en Tamiang, dat echter sedert 1878 van Langkat afgescheiden en in 1908 bij Atjeh gevoegd is.”
