- Atjehsche avonturier at Aroe-baai (1862) — the Atjehnese adventurer threw up a benteng on the hill of Poelo Kampi in the bay of Aroe and defiantly flew the Atjehsche flag from it, recalling the Atjehnese conquest of Aroe of 1539.
- Langkat’s appeal to Siak against Atjeh (1862) — the formal request by the Radja of Langkat to Sultan Tongkoe Ismail of Siak for an act of Siak recognition that would unlock Dutch protection against Atjeh.
- The Netscher mission to the East Coast statelets — Resident Netscher of Riouw, “op aandrang van Tongkoe Ismail van Siak”, was instructed “in 1862 opgedragen, meer aanrakingen te zoeken met de verschillende hoofden der in het Siak-tractaat als onderhoorigheden van Siak genoemde staatjes, teneinde deze te bewegen tot eene erkenning van die onderhoorigheid.” Deli, Serdang, Langkat en enkele kleinere kuststaatjes gingen hiertoe over; Asahan and its vassals refused.
