C. Lulofs’s figures, quoted by du Croo, take 1845 as the base year for comparing Dutch troop deployments in the Buitengewesten: after 1845, Atjeh left out of account, only the period 1871–1890 is noteworthily distinguished from the twenty-five preceding and the sixteen following years.
