The end of the first visit of Muhammad Djailani Hamid to Acheh. Finding little interest in his teaching of logic, rhetoric, dogmatics, and the doctrine of duties, the scholar sailed on to Mecca to obtain the venia docendi as a teacher of mystical theology, with which he returned to Acheh and then had great success. The experience was decisive for his nephew Nūruddīn ar-Rānīrī, who, when he himself left for Acheh in 1637, was thoroughly prepared in mysticism, in the Bahasa Djawi, and in the production of Malay religious writings.
