Seudoe is a place on the Westkust south of Lho’ Nga, reached by a road that runs from Lho’ Nga further southward, close along the sea, over a great length, and gives a splendid view over the great moving mass that rolls onto the karang of the coast and loses itself with cheerful noise between them. The always grand panorama on this north coast of Sumatra becomes tremendous when storm drives the waters forth. Then too the road has much to suffer, and the telephone-poles have had to be set in armed concrete. Where the road widens somewhat from the coastal edge, kampongs lie aside. There belong to them some orchards with various species, an unusual phenomenon in the Indies — gardens with ramboetan, mangistan, doekoe, doerian, mamplam (mangga).
