The stronghold of the holy Teungku di Meuke’, whose conflict with the pro-Dutch chiefs of Meulaboh is celebrated in the Hikayat Teungku di Meuke’. ‘The poet celebrates the conflict waged in 1893 and 1894 by the chiefs of Meulaboh, friendly to the Dutch, against the party of resistance, whose chief stronghold was Runeng and who were led by the holy Teungku di Meuke’.‘
