Pantej Karang (also Panteh Karang) was an Atjehnese strong place in the XXII Moekims of Groot-Atjeh at which, on 6 May and 7 May 1879, the Atjehnese inflicted great losses on the troops of generaal van der Heyden before they were themselves driven out, in the continuation of the campaign of 1879; afterwards it was kept as a Dutch post until, at the execution of the concentration, it was numbered among the outer fortifications returned to the field. The post was one of the fortifications maintained by the Dutch outside the new line that were returned to the field at the execution of the concentration: it was evacuated between 5 and 14 January 1885, nearly a month and a half before the clearing of the so-called free strip was finished (see Completion of the concentrated position (March 1885)).
