A region of Southern Arabia. In the Hikayat Putroe Peureukison: ‘Peureukison or Peureukoyson is the name of a princess, daughter of king Nahi of Neujeuran (Najran in Southern Arabia).’ She is brought up in paganism but has deep religious instincts leading her to discover Islam. The story is said to be a tradition handed down by Ka’b al-Ahbar, an ancient to whom are ascribed many Jewish stories in the oldest Mohammedan literature. Antioch (Entakiah) In the Hikayat Putroe Peureukison: ‘Abdolah, king of Entakiah (Antioch) loses his way while out hunting and comes by chance to the dwelling-place of Peureukison.’ He falls in love with the princess, converts to Islam, and brings her home as his wife. She is eventually exiled from Antioch through forged letters but later reunited with her husband.
