Kotta Poeah was a fortified Acehnese settlement and defensive redoubt (benteng) situated in the agricultural interior of the Aceh River valley in modern Aceh Province, Indonesia.
History During Pel’s Campaign
Guarding irrigation channels and supply roads within the XXII Moekims, Kotta Poeah was utilized by warriors under Panglima Polem to resist Dutch occupation forces.
During General Pel’s Campaign in Aceh, Dutch columns comprising the 3rd Infantry Battalion and 13th Infantry Battalion assaulted and captured Kotta Poeah during the March through the XXII Moekims in February 1876, dismantling its timber ramparts.
