Account in du Croo’s Generaal Swart (1943)
From T. Radja Sabi
T. Radja Sabi was the son of T. Tjhi’ Toenòng and Tjoet Meutia of Keureutòë, proclaimed oelèëbalang of Keureutòë by Pang Nanggròë at the age of six in November 1907, who after the deaths of his stepfather and mother in 1910 wandered for nine years in the forests of the Goenòng Panjang as the last unfound irreconcilable of the district, submitted at last at Lho’ Seumawè on 13 March 1919 at the age of eighteen, and was finally installed as oelèëbalang of Keureutòë in 1937. Du Croo called his story “the Acehnese drama of T. Radja Sabi and his people.”
From T. Radja Sabi
The condition set by the other side proved a stumbling-block: “we shall bring the real T. Radja Sabi down when it is first established that the boy at Koetaradja is not genuine — that is, when the Great Master acknowledges that a wrong person has been designated as T. Radja Sabi.” And so T. Radja Sabi continued to wander in the forests of the lonely Goenòng Panjang.
