Description
Region to which Panglima Polém fled, then to Peutòë. Teungkoe di Mata Ië’s influence extended there. Pretendent-Sultan fled there after Batèë Ilië (February 1901). Gajo’s had supported the war party with rice for the prang sabil; Gajosche chiefs gave all possible help to the Pretendent-Sultan. The 163-day Gajo-tocht under Van Daalen was a great success. Gajo-Landen and Alasland mentioned separately. 23 Gajo’s among Sabang asylum patients.
Significance
Gajo-landen (Gajoland, Gajo-land) is recorded by Jongejan as part of the geography and historical landscape of Aceh.
