Toekoe Imam was one of the moekim heads of Gigiëng on the north coast of Atjeh, who lived on a good footing with the Dutch officials — and, the Dutch suspected, at odds with his own prince. His report that Prince Toengkoe Bintara Kamangan had invited the heads of the realm to collect money for the prang sabil against the Netherlands, and that he had replaced the market master Toekoe Moeda Rajat by the hostile Toekoe Hasjim, was one of the three independent testimonies on which the Dutch acted in the cancellation of friendship of 19 August 1876.
