Siman was a native fusilier — inlandsch fuselier — of the Netherlands Indies Army killed on 25 September 1897 at the Goeah Teroes cave on the Glé Betoes.
P. H. R. Beuming records that as the remainder of the advance-guard clambered up, firing continually, and at last reached the entrance of the cave, the patrol was fired on from every corner of it: de inlandsche fuselier Siman werd bij deze gelegenheid in ‘t hoofd getroffen en viel dood neer — the native fusilier Siman was struck in the head on this occasion and fell dead.
Captain J. N. C. Baron van Heerdt, who had taken over the command of the advance-guard after the death of Lieutenant J. van Greuningen, then ordered rapid fire into the cave, driving the Acehnese deeper inside. Siman’s body was carried down with the others in a tandoe and taken the same day to Koeta Radja for burial on the Petjoet cemetery.
