Notenbos, Sergeant was a Dutch marine sergeant who, during the assault on the village of Lemboeq on 31 December 1874, helped defend the forward breastwork together with Marine Jansma and Lieutenant Cadet. His actions were recorded in the after‑action report of W. Sutherland.

Combat role

Sergeant Notenbos was noted for his steadiness under fire while the marines secured the newly captured fortifications at Lemboeq.
