Penghoeloe Möngkör was the still-hostile chief in the mountains of the Meergebied whom a dozen villagers of Linggö joined in 1916, and whom the population itself laid low in September of that year.
The band, led into the mountains by a female teungkoe whom the population regarded as very holy, attacked a marching bivouac, which held and inflicted three dead and one severely wounded at the cost of three wounded soldiers. Then it was soon “mèl sadja” again: two more encounters, two more dead, eight submissions — “and then in September the population laid Penghoeloe Möngkör low.”
