Already in 1898 earned knighthood of 4th class of MWO as 1st lieutenant of marechaussée in Aceh. Wrote ‘Atjeh vóór en na de pacificatie’ in Haagsch Maandblad of May 1928, defending the civil administration against over-pessimism about the 1926 Bakongan uprising: ‘some unrest on the Westkust… limited to a few small areas entirely isolated by mountain outliers… with a past like this, we may well be very satisfied that now a more confidential relationship between population and administration begins to break through…’. Called ‘a knight’ (ridder) by author.
Significance
Majoor Lamster appears in Jongejan’s account as one of the figures shaping the history of Aceh during the period covered by the book.
