Majoor Knoote was a Dutch infantry major who served with the first Aceh expedition of 1873. He is mentioned by Brooshooft as one of the commanding officers during the 10 April march on the Missigit and as the leader of a sharp reconnaissance in action towards the Kraton on 12 April 1873, in which his column was heavily engaged by Acehnese fighters firing unexpectedly from behind the paggers (fences) of their kampongs.
