Majoor Boom was a Dutch major of infantry in Atjeh in 1876, military commandant at Olehleh — the harbour, landing place and depot of the Dutch establishment — during the consolidation period of that year.

When, on the morning of 3 May, the news of the night attack on Lampagar reached Olehleh, the same day’s orders of the civil and military commander sent a company of barisan and a detachment of the right half of the 12th battalion by rail from Kota Radja to Olehleh and on to Lampagar; Major Boom, with the controleur Michielsen, was to join the troop, to open a strict inquiry at once on the spot, and if necessary to punish the guilty population or arrest its heads. Boom was at Lampagar with the troops that afternoon. The further inquiry — arrest, then release, of the five kampong heads — is told at the event: it was under his military direction that the immediate fortification work on the camp and the punitive burning of the kampongs Lamtjoet and Lambaroe were carried out.
His role is preserved in the official history by H. F. Meijer in Atjeh van 26 December 1875 tot 4 September 1876 (1883).
