Luitenant‑Kolonel Douglas was a senior Dutch officer who commanded forces in the Wikkie‑gebied and later led expeditions from Stevensburg and Hardenbrock. He coordinated attacks against Atta and received reports of rebel movements around the Wikkie‑kreek, Canje, and Wironje‑kreek. Douglas also reported the capture of Accara and the surrender of numerous Negers.

Douglas organized multiple detachments, including a naval element to the plantation Maarkey, and oversaw the distribution of supplies for eight days of campaigning.
