L. F. Tuckerman was a lieutenant ter zee who entered the main fort of Retch after the rattan barrier had been cut. He followed Coppel (bootsman) and other marines into the interior of the fort during the 1858 assault.
Role in the Assault
Tuckerman’s entry into the fort marked the turning point of the battle, leading to the capture of the enemy position and the death of Panglima Besar Soeloong.
