General Trezel was a French general in the Algerian conquest whose colonial campaigns were referenced in Dutch military treatises regarding the Aceh Sultanate.

In Atjeh gedurende de tweede expeditie en later (1876), the author cited General Trezel’s military setbacks in Algeria alongside those of General Clauzel to argue that European public opinion often unfairly maligned colonial commanders who faced insurmountable geographical and logistical obstacles, drawing a parallel to criticisms of General J. van Swieten.
