C. J. Visser was a Dutch marine lieutenant of the Korps Mariniers who served as adjudant to Captain-terr zee Binkes during the 1873 Aceh campaign and was honorably mentioned in the royal decree of 6 October 1874 for his service in the Aceh expeditions of 1873 and 1874.
Service in the 1873 Campaign
Visser participated in the initial amphibious landing on 5 April 1873 and subsequently acted as liaison between the marine landing division and the overall army command under General-Major Köhler. His after-action reports from the field, dated 10 April and 12 April 1873, provide detailed accounts of the heavy resistance encountered at the Mesigit (the Great Mosque of Banda Aceh) and of the subsequent casualties among the marine ranks, including the death of Sergeant Rood.

- Authored after-action reports that clarified discrepancies in troop numbers between the marine and army records.
- Assisted in the coordination of naval gunfire support during the assault on the Kraton (the Acehnese royal palace).
Recognition
Although not awarded a knighthood, Visser’s name appeared among the officers distinguished for their actions in Aceh in the Royal Decree of 6 October 1874, the comprehensive honour list that recognised service across the Aceh expeditions of 1873–1874.
