A. Bosch was a Dutch captain of infantry in Atjeh in 1876, who took temporary command of the 1st column in the Biloel Zuid operation when its designated commander, Major Diepenheim, fell sick on the first day’s march.

Already assigned to the 1st column — his own corps having provided to the 2nd column its single European company of the right half of the 8th Infantry Battalion in the official disposition — Bosch relieved Diepenheim on the morning of 14 May and led the column’s advance from Boekit Daroe to Biloel: over sodden sawahs southeastward to Empehbling, bridging the brook Loeëng Lemoh under the harmless fire of an Atjehnese party hidden in a nipah-bush — silenced by two shots of the mountain artillery — and leaving a company at the bridge to protect the provisioning march of the forced-labourers; then along the west edges of the kampongs Lampēnéhēn and Lamkoenjit towards Gêrot, declining, under continued enemy fire from the mountain slopes, to keep to the original march along the foot of the mountains; and by a more northerly line through Lamtadoe, Maneh, Toeram and Biloel, where at half past two his bivouac was pitched for the night’s operations by which Biloel Zuid was founded the next morning.
His name is preserved in the official record printed by H. F. Meijer in Atjeh van 26 December 1875 tot 4 September 1876 (1883).
