The Leger des Heils — the Salvation Army — was the religious organisation considered by the colonial government as a possible manager of the leper-hospital at Sabang. Lepers from the Gouvernement Atjeh en Onderhoorigheden are housed in the former military hospital at Sabang, where they are cared for under the supervision of a government doctor by Ambonese nurses. Consideration has been given to transferring the care of that institution to the Leger des Heils.
