The Borneo Rubber Compagnie — described by Broersma as ‘een Japansch lichaam’ — a Japanese body — also referred to as the Dutch Borneo Plantations Cy. — was the Japanese-owned company that acquired the older rubber-estate Tandjong Semantoh in Tamiang from the oldest Tamiang planter, H. C. Reuter. It is one of the early tokens of the transfer of European planting-interests in northern Sumatra to Japanese capital in the post-war period. The same Japanese-owned company also acquired the estate Blang Simpo in Langsa as worthless rubber-land returned to the landschap.
