Regarded by Hurgronje as the greatest Acehnese epic and a masterpiece of Oriental literature, this 18th-century poem by Teungku Lam Rukam narrates the campaign of the youngest Acehnese prince, Pochut Muhamat, to unify the kingdom by defeating the Arab pretender Poteu Jeumaloy and ending the indolent rule of his elder brother, Sultan Alaedin Juhan Shah (Poteu Ue’).
