In August 1936, a vloedgolf (tidal wave) and aardbeving (earthquake) destroyed the once-lively port town of Oelèë Lheuë, formerly the well-known badplaats (bathing resort) for old Koetaradja residents. The town has been reduced to a ‘dead Zuiderzeeplaatsje’ atmosphere. Recently a platform has been built for moonlit ‘makan angin’.
