Military Constabulary in Atjeh (1943) was the military history of the Korps Marechaussee in Atjeh by H. J. Schmidt and M. H. du Croo, published in 1943 and repeatedly cited in Generaal Swart, Pacificator van Atjeh for episodes not narrated at length there.
Du Croo refers to it for the destruction of the Tirò Teungkoes by Schmidt with his brigades under Molier and Von Gilsa — “that struggle has already been described in another book as a classic example of the colonial “small war""; for the conversation of 1902 in a bivouac in the Meulabohsche between van Heutsz, Snouck Hurgronje and a captain, in which van Heutsz named Van Daalen as his intended successor; for the suppression of the resistance in Daja and Lhong of 1914 (pp. 118 ff.); and for the coconut and sugar-cane excursion of April 1918 (pp. 124 ff.). Schmidt’s recollections in that book also supplied du Croo with many of the “ontmoetingen” that characterise Swart.
