As a private citizen Swart returned to the Netherlands, settling at Den Haag, but Atjeh retained his warm and continuous interest. When resistance broke out again on the west coast of Atjeh in 1925, his opinion was sought in Holland and reported by the journalist J. Schaap, formerly editor-in-chief of the Java-Bode, in The Weekly of an Amsterdammer of 14 and 21 September 1927 — a statement du Croo called “Swart’s Atjehsch testament”.
From 1925
In 1925 resistance broke out again on the west coast of Atjeh, seven years after Swart’s retirement. Swart’s opinion was sought in Holland and recorded by J. Schaap in The Weekly of an Amsterdammer — “Swart’s Atjehsch testament”. In 1925 du Croo was acting controleur of Meulaboh, where he examined the onderstand entries and held his own keutelige inspections; he found roads, bridges and the keudé neglected. Dr. R. Broersma’s Atjeh als land voor handel en bedrijf appeared in 1925.
From 1927
In 1927 the journalist J. Schaap published H. N. A. Swart’s judgement on the renewed resistance in Atjeh in The Weekly of an Amsterdammer of 14 and 21 September 1927 — “it is, as it were, Swart’s Acehnese testament”. In 1927/1928 Swart revisited Atjeh and spoke again with T. Tjhi’ Peusangan; chiefs continued to send him telegrams and letters at New Year.
