Description

210 km road project from Sigli to Meulaboh connecting the Noordkust to the Westkust. By 1930 about 100 km built from Sigli and ~70 km (OCR garbled) from Meulaboh; further construction suspended in 1930 due to high cost. Missing link through uninhabited mountainous terrain estimated at c. 1 million guilders.

Significance

The term transversaalweg is recorded by Jongejan as part of the cultural, administrative, or institutional vocabulary of Aceh.
