Safinat al-nadja’ (“The Ship of Salvation”) is a Malay devotional text authored by Salim b. Samir. It was printed in Singapore in 1295/1878 and achieved lasting popularity in the Indonesian archipelago, including Aceh.
Content and Influence
The work combines Quranic exegesis, moral instruction, and Sufi themes. Its widespread circulation created a literary environment that facilitated the translation of other Arabic works, such as the Bad’ al-Amali.
