Kapala Kaom was the informal clan leader among West Coast Acehnese settler communities (nangrooe ranto) in districts like Meulaboh.

Social Role

Unlike territorial lords (uleebalang), a Kapala Kaom held non-hereditary authority based on personal prestige and lineage, providing guidance and managing pepper credit networks for his clan members.
