The year 1941 was, in the Dutch staff history’s account (Deel VI, Hoofdstuk V), the year of the second phase of the Dutch pre-invasion force drawdown in Atjeh — the year in which 28 brigades of garrison infantry were dissolved in a single reduction (15 February 1941), in which the city guards were raised, and in which the Palmer van den Broek–Bekkers command transition at the 2de Garnizoensbataljon was effected. The year 1941 is the terminus ad quem of the Dutch pre-invasion drawdown, and the year of Panglima Polem’s death.
