The year in which the grandfather of Muḥammad al-ʿAddārs — and thus the great-grandfather of Nūruddīn ar-Rānīrī — came from South Arabia to Gudjarāt. This migration of an Arab scholar to the Indian coast established the Indian-Arab family into which Raniri was later born: a family of mixed blood that maintained contact with the motherland by correspondence and study-journeys, and that stood in relation with Indonesia — that is, in this period, especially with Acheh.
