Thingkun was an Achehnese kampong in the neighbourhood of the valley of Lamtoba, at the foot of the Goudberg behind the north coast of Groot-Atjeh, known as the kampong of the chief Toekoe Djoe Raman during the Dutch occupation of the district in August 1879, as recorded in W. Cool and G. B. Hooijer’s Eene schoone bladzijde uit Atjeh’s geschiedenis (1889).
In the occupation of 1879
From the kampong Thingkun, its chief Toekoe Djoe Raman came into the Dutch bivak at Lamtoba during the absence of the main column on the Selimoen expedition, bringing a sappi as a gift for the column-commandant — a significant adherence, since a younger sister of the chief was married to Radja Koeala, the son of the great Panglima Polim. The place itself the book does not further describe; like the paseijs — the little mountain hamlets passed by the reconnaissance towards Kroeng Raija — it belonged to the scattered settlement of the hill country between the north coast and the Atjeh-rivier.
