Simaloer / Simeuloeë is a location in or related to Aceh described in Jongejan’s Land en Volk van Atjeh Vroeger en Nu. Island off the west coast of Atjeh; onderafdeeling of the afdeeling Westkust.

Description

Island off the west coast of Atjeh; onderafdeeling of the afdeeling Westkust. On Simaloer, the indigenous volkshoofden were reduced to subordinate positions by the Dutch, while the heads of foreigners (vreemdelingen) were made into zelfbestuurders.

Significance

Simaloer / Simeuloeë is recorded by Jongejan as part of the geography and historical landscape of Aceh.
