Syria appears in the Hikayat Nubuet: ‘A certain woman named Fatimah Chami (from Sham = Syria) learns that the spirit of prophecy has descended on Abdallah.’ In the Hikayat Soydina Usen: Muhammad was ‘king at Medina; the infidel Yadib (Ach. pronunciation of Yazid) in Meuse (Egypt).’ The sadati nasib mentions sending a letter ‘to the land of Sham (Syria), with a command that all Dutchmen shall become Moslems.’ In the Hikayat Pha Suasa, war is waged by ‘the kings of Cham (= Syria), Rom (Turkey), Meuse (Egypt) etc. against a certain pagan Raja Akeuram.‘
