Seroeway (also referenced as Oud‑Seroeway) was a riverine landing site on the Tamiang river used by Dutch forces during the February‑April 1893 expeditions. The column arrived there on 13 February 1893, crossed the river the following morning, and used the location as a staging point for further inland advances.
Strategic Importance
Its position allowed the Dutch to establish a foothold on the opposite bank, facilitating the movement of infantry, marines, and river‑borne artillery.
Military Activity
During the second expedition, the landing division returned to Seroeway on 30 March 1893 after breaking through river blockades with the steamship Koerier (ship).
