The name of the great expanse of cultivated land lying on the borders of The Dalam (royal residence) of Acheh. In the sadati rateb kisah: ‘In the Raja Umong is the sane Che’bre’ (a spirit named after a tree), over whom no human being however great his strength, can prevail.’ The Daroy River is also mentioned as containing a terrible sane (spirit). The Daroy River Mentioned in the sadati rateb kisah: ‘In the Daroy River is a terrible sane; let no man suffer his shadow to fall on him, lest evil overtake him.’ Also mentioned in Banta Ali Peureudan: ‘Daroy Aman as that land was called of which Peureudan’s father-in-law once was king.’ The XXVI Mukims A major territorial subdivision of Great Acheh. The principal centres of religious teaching before the war were situated in the neighbourhood of the capital and in the sagi (territory) of the XXVI Mukims. Teungku Lam Paya was kali of the XXVI Mukims. Teungku di Lam Gut was also kali of the XXVI Mukims. During the Dutch war, ‘in the enemy’s onslaught upon the XXVI Mukims he (the Imeum of Lueng Bata) stood firm in the defence.’ Teungku Tiro made progresses through the XXVI Mukims as part of his admonitions. The panglima of the XXVI Mukims was Teuku Nya’ Banta. The Tambih rapilin (admonition to the thoughtless), translated by the learned kali of the XXVI Mukims (Teungku di Lam Gut), was completed in Jumada I’akhir 1242 (= January 1827). The sadati kisah mentions: ‘The XXVI Mukims (of Acheh are subject to) Panglima Chut Oh.’ The XXII Mukims A major territorial subdivision of Acheh. Seulimeum is the main centre of the XXII Mukims, where a teacher named Teungku Usen teaches; his father Teungku Tanoh Abie, celebrated for his learning and independence, was kali of the XXII Mukims. The Panglima of the XXII Mukims was Panglima Polem (a powerful family), to whom the Sultan surrendered the reins of power during the Dutch war. After the one-eyed Dutch general made ‘victorious progress through the XXII Mukims, to the amazement of the hitherto braggart inhabitants of the upper country.’ The sadati kisah: ‘The XXII under Panglima Polem; they are subject to our lord the King. The La’seumana (the Chief of Eunjong) is a fatherless child; he rules the XXII
