Pulo Nasi is an island situated off the northwestern tip of Sumatra in the Aceh archipelago.
Role in the Second Aceh Expedition
On 24 November 1873, Dutch naval forces occupied Pulo Nasi without resistance to establish a quarantine field hospital for troops suffering from a severe cholera epidemic that broke out aboard troopships leaving Batavia. The 3rd Infantry Battalion was stationed on the island until heavy monsoonal rains forced their re-embarkation in December 1873.
