Oeléë Kareung — modern Ulee Karung — is a place not far from Kota Radja in the afdeeling Groot-Atjeh, where the colonial government opened an agricultural school (landbouwschool). The school, however, in fact no longer exists, because it has been distorted into small-business of dairy, chicken-breeding, vegetable-growing. However much this may accord with the desire of young Atjehnese to learn money-earning from practice, the distortion of the agricultural school is, in Broersma’s view, not to be applauded.
